Poem

Nirvana

The scent of reds and yellows
Nestle into my nostrils
Peppery sensations
Nudging my senses back into Mama’s kitchen
Where
Finely chopped onions
Peppers:
Green, red and gold
Saute in curries and cumin from Nirvana
Replacing
An old and trusted courtship with Rajah
Where
Mama’s smile says
She finally got Fatima’s recipe right
And our smiles say:
No place like home
