Poem

I am me
I am black and poor
I am me
I wear outdated clothes
I am me
I don’t own a cologne
I am me
I don’t speak profound English
I am me!!!

I am talented
I am skillful
I am courageous
I am Beautiful
I am strong
I am Black
I am proud
I am Blessed
And I am ENOUGH!!!

I AM ME
I don’t need pity
I don’t need fame
I don’t need money
I don’t need fashion
I don’t need opinionated fake friends
I don’t need pretentious lovers
I definitely don’t need your advices!

I am me
I need love
I need time
I need to be heard
I need to be understood
I need to be seen
I need to be respected
And I definitely need to be Valued

I am me
I see poverty
I smell fear
I hear pain
I feel death

I am me
I am a young black South African
Child.

THEY SPEAK, PREACH, AND SHOUT FREEDOM, BUT I’M YET TO SEE IT.
