Sailing On Fertile Lands by Nyashadzashe Chikumbu

Poem

Mutiny they all cried!
“Abandon ship! Abandon ship!”
Buttered, ravenous, thirsty for hope.
We were marooned bareback-
On lush green islands.
Had we become prisoners
Sailing on fertile lands?
