Knowing the Uncertain

“we living a life.”
the soul wanders, the mind wavers, and
nothing dwindles us to self-reflect
in our homes, cars and businesses.

We move in and out our cars
Walking and commanding has coloured mankind.

Juggling reprimand after work done, examination, drivers test complete
has become nothing than an obvious.
Even birds laugh at us, within their blunt beaks.
It doesn’t affect us, though;
It used to affect us a while ago,
when we blushed less,
and all matters were important.

Trane

(geskryf in 2005)

Trane kom en gaan elke dag,
my vriend is nie meer hier nie
my ouers gaan ver van ek,
maar jy, my trane is hier.
Trane, hoekom kom jy altyd?
Doen jy ooit glimlag of doen jy ooit asseblief glimlag.
My trane kom in my mond
sout en al, maar nooit nie biter nie.
Ek wonder, as hierdie pyn weg sal word.
My oë is rooi en warm elke dag,
dit voel as ek iemand, dood moet maak.
Trane asseblief ‘buggeroff’ en moenie terug weerkom nie.
Met jou hier ek is altyd biter,
nooit nie om te glimlag nie.

About the poem

This poem is about the poet. The poet describes a situation where he had become remorseful, sad, and angry while he was growing up. The poem reflects an emotional quality, and how tears usually reflect sadness and anger. The poet also highlights that when this sad emotion manifests in people, and it refuses to leave him/her, he/she isn’t always able to move forward and forget an (or the) incident he/she doesn’t want to recall. The poet, therefore, emphasises that such an emotion couldn’t always be liked by anyone.
