| November 29th, 2012 | poetry seen | No Comments

The first annual Word N Sound Poetry Awards were created to recognize and thank the many talented individuals who have been part of our journey in 2012. The awards also serve to honour those that excelled during the year displaying passion, courage and commitment to their art.

There are 4 main categories with the 5th being a surprise

  • Poet Of The Year Award
  • Best New Comer Award
  • The Perfect Poem Award
  • Best Showcase Award

There will be special performances by various nominees and a screening of the 2012 Word N Sound Highlights.

GET INVOLVED

We need your help in deciding which was the most memorable performance of the year to be honoured with the first ever Word N Sound Perfect Poem Award.

The category is inspired by Kojo Baffoe’s poem in which he is “on a quest to find the perfect poem, a gentle balance between word, rhythm and thought …a poem that sends the moon and sun dancing over the skyline hand in hand”.

The nominees are:

Conelius Jones – Never Meant To Stay

Mandi Poefficient Vundla – The Starving Preface

Mpho Khosi – Where Did It All Go Wrong

Purple Jupiter – Every 17 Seconds

Masai Dabula – What Do You Know About Freedom

King Nova – The House That We Built

Andrew Manyika – Make-Up (Your Mind)

KB Kilobyte – Joburg Let My People Go
