That Table by Itumeleng Tsagane

Itumeleng Tsagane | Jan 20th, 2020 | poetry | No Comments

The apprentice wants to train her teacher.
I am the table listening to the conversation as they sit around me.
The teacher is a good listener and so am I.
If only they could move me to the corner closest to the door.
I want to lean against the wall.
My legs are tired.
One is bent askew.
That happened when a woman I won’t name sat on top of me.
She was neither the apprentice or the teacher.
