To the enkindled questions I never asked
There was so much more I needed to say
The toughest lesson I never grasped

When I felt depleted, it told me to hold fast
You assumed tomorrow wouldn’t bring a new day?
To the enkindled questions I never asked

Another year of these cycles I’m embarrassed
Anxiety, Migraines, Depression, Alcoholism, Dismay
The toughest lesson I never grasped

Child-bearing a forgiveness that’s unsurpassed
A mockery empirical syllabus fading away
The toughest lesson I never grasped
To the enkindled questions I never asked
