this is the north

You stood on Hekla’s lofty peak
and gazed across the land so tender,
onwards shining rivers meander
through green plains to a sea of blue.
While fettered Loki lay concealed
at the glacier’s root in his rocky den –
was not Iceland to your eyes then
a wonderous spectacle to behold?
