He sought stones. Cradled them
in his hands. Worried their crevices
with spit and sweat.
Polished them in his tumbler
to seek their secrets, cracked
with hammer and chisel
to reveal a hidden hollow,
Magnificat concretions
of color, crystals gleaming
new to a sun never-before
seen, sharp symmetry to
his small probing finger,
not unlike the beauty
of his curious brain
with its cauliflower
corrugations that will
reflect creations
into the world.
