Seven months gone is the sister,
rescued from decline in Arizona,
Gone is Jane’s hospital bed
she used less than two weeks.
Taken away the pills that becalmed
her tempestuous tortures
when unable to breath.
Two days in hospice before
her soul soared where
souls do, sanctified secret
until it happens to you.
She’s in this land, this light,
silent worshipper
of the darkness of night.
