The world’s attention is quickly turned away, when the latest and trendiest outfits of the day, are cheaply produced at the expense of childhood innocence.
These outfits are worn with casual indifference.
No thought is spared for children in sweatshops,
as tiny fingers stitch dresses,pants & crop tops,
in dimly lit,dreary and dehumanising spaces. The agony of back-breaking work is written on young faces.
But who cares about a child who loses their childhood,
when some fashion-conscious person gets to look good?
Refiloe Khumo inherited her love for storytelling from her grandmother who used to regale her and her siblings with folklore. She used to write short stories in primary school and she fell in love with poetry on high school.
