An Interlude, Worthy Of An Arthur Penn TV Movie by Mitja Lovše

Poem

So much for your breakfast,
the army intruded as you had
some scrambled eggs and coffee.
‘Can you wait just a little bit longer?’

A shot in the head did say no,
we cannot wait a little bit longer,
so we won’t let you finish your meal,
we have more important things to attend.

They merely grazed you,
you did not get hit that much,
though the blood fell in your drink,
there’s a strange reading present here.

‘These fucking military douchebags!’
Mrs. Škerl, do not be upset, please.
