In a space of about two and half years, Word N Sound has revitalized and juiced up the Jozi performance poetry scene.
And now with a large growing following, Word N Sound is staging its 2nd Word N Sound Festival where the top 10 poets will be competing to win the Open Mic Poetry League.
The event is promising to be major, it’s set for the 6th of October at Emonti on Bree, 12pm – 10pm. The jam-packed programme includes the best of the best – Joshua Bennet, Napo Masheane, Afurakan and Mutle Mothibe – as well as showcasing the up and coming – Mpho Khosi, KB Kilobyte, Bonga Ndziweni, Vuyelwa Maluleke and Diema Dika.
The festival of words will be balanced out by music from Love Glori and later, the after party will feature DJs Pilzy Lee, Duce, truejOnes, MF Benzo and Kwasa.
Last year’s winner was Masai Dabula. Will he succeed in defending his title against – Mandi Poefficient Vundla, Andrew Manyika, Cornelius Jones AKA Sbu Simelane and Forgotten Planet (Ahimsa & NoLife)?
