Poetry

Who am I?
I am Gosego
G’Rat, the G,
The twin sister of Lesego,
the Big Rat,Les Rob Rat.

What am I?
Alien?
No, I’m me!
No matter what people say,
I live everyday,
Trying to make people understand,
I’m just being me!
Going all the way…

I’m no boy, nor girl
I’m just me!
A soccer player,
A friend, a sister,
A daughter, A lover
I live to please me!

If I don’t, I won’t be happy
I’m being me!
If I don’t,
I’ll never know the real me,
become always a wanna be
Can’t people see?
I’m just being me!

All I wish is for people
to accept the way I am
I’m me!
And that’s all I’m going to be,
ME!!!

Poet Bio

Gosego wrote this poem based in the fact that being homosexual in the black community is like a sin and a disgrace. The way people look at you when you walk down the street, is like they already crucified you. Their stare is so judgmental in a way. People should just understand whether you call me mistakenly a man or girl and still be surprised by the way I dress, is ok. Call it How you see it. On the other hand, I’m just being ME!
