Blissful Ignorance by Refiloe Khumo

Poem

Do you recall our joyful summer days, basking in the sun’s medicinal rays,
chasing carefree & thrilling ventures
and trying our eager hands at new adventures?
Our life stories were waiting to be written.
We didn’t know then what it meant to be fear-stricken.
We were teeming with passion & audacity. Blissfully, we indulged our unbridled curiosity. Youth made life seem as though it had endless possibilities,
free from worries, debts and responsibilities. Alas, we are grown up & have to assume “adult” roles
in this world that takes us down unpleasant rabbit holes.
