Poem

do people live there –
there by the foot of the hill
with their goats and cattle

do their kids with no toys
play with rats and spiders,
eat snakes for cakes

how many storms have they battled with?
in shacks displaying their shame
to the eyes of the heartless,

who are these politicians fooling?
leaving children to fend for themselves
while their kids are well fed and fat

do people live there
there by the foot of the hill

with their goats and cattle

and with their dignity lost to politicians and their games,
how long shall they be ignored
by the government they elected –
