By a Lake by Thompson Emate

Poem

As the end of days approaches,
The prevailing rays emerge,
Caging the night,
And letting the light dominate.

Strangers in the fields,
Armoured with glittering shields,
Strengthened by the gallant sun,
A multitude that stands as one.

This marks the beginning of a new order,
Fresh boughs arise from the stem.
Darkness is dispelled from its hidden chamber,
Put into an eternal slumber.

I see my mother standing far away in a meadow,
The sky was arched by a rainbow.
I run to meet her,
I embrace her,
And then she’s gone.

I wake up,
Lying on a pier by a lake,
The night is infused with myrrh.
