CATS by Mbongeni Khumalo

Poem

Cats can do no wrong
And
With the blinking of an eye
Can tell a friend from foe
Animals should have
More freedoms and more rights
They are
The most trustworthy
Of all friends
Who trust even their abusers

An alley cat
Catches the fattest bird
And never cries
Over a spilt glass of milk

When your cat comes
Knocking on your door
After a night out
It is because
There is no place as sweet
As home

There are many ways
To call a cat
