Poem

and these children understand
that life must go on
without their loved ones
and their pets

blown up
when that fighter-jet
spit missiles directed to their homes –

these children understand
that Jesus is not coming
and that God left war zones long time ago

they understand
that life must go on
as they limp towards dustbins for crumbs

and sometimes they eat remnants of bombs and bullets
and wonder why don’t they die too –
