A Poem A Day writing prompt… blood soaked

Stood up and drenched
caked mud and strife
blood soaked / fist clenched
clinging onto life
old butcher’s son
does what he knows
with daddy’s gun
calling the crows
to feast on them
the carrion
see nine or ten
flying down
to earth to eat
the meaty strands
prepared for them
by children’s hands
