I sought for Him
in the chambers of His House,
The closer I get,
The more troubles I see,
The nearer I approach,
The complexities that surround,
Confused and distraught I was,
Disillusioned and dismayed I wondered,
Where else to find Him,
Where else to find respite for my soul’s strivings,
Is it deep in the woods?
At the seaside shore?
Or at the mountain summit?
Found that He’s everywhere and around,
In the stillness of my mind,
In the calmness of my soul,
In the tranquil flow of my thoughts,
He stands at the front to battle,
He wages with me as it rages,
He holds the battleshield firm and strong,
He is the invisible form that stays
so close as the flesh is to the bone,
Though many a times this I forget.
