Rich neighbours on the other side,
Separated and secluded,
A walled community,
Same people, same colour,
Same skin, same root,
Alienated in their world,
Racism and town planning,
Racism and partitioning,
A defect of decades,
A recalcitrant plague,
People viewed with eyes of contempt,
People of different skin but the same blood,
They dwell outside the erected walls.
Thompson I. Emate is a poet of varied colours. He lives in Lagos, Nigeria.
