Drowning by Robert Williams

Poem

I’m sinking I close my eyes, about to drown.
Suddenly life seems darker unlike it used to be
Like a king fallen, defeated who lost his crown.
A spirit captured no longer free.

As my tears and water fuse,
What happiness you brought since we’ve been together
Only one thought remains of my loving muse
Memories of your love I’ll hold dear forever.

My entire life flashes before me,
I succumb to life and what I’m going through.
But only images of you are portrayed clearly
My mind thinks, heart beats and soul longs for only you.

And as my life ends I’m left with one last conclusion
What my mind thinks, my soul longs and my heart beats for is no illusion.
