Every now and Then by Mutabazi Peter

Poem

Every now and then,
an empty head dumps trash along the way.
I’ve seen it—but make way,
there’s somewhere I have to be.
I am a concerned citizen,
but what will they say?
Dare I pick it up?
Place it where it’s supposed to be?

Every now and then,
I crave a notion—
a need to purge a dozen emotions
caused by agents of pollution.
Charge it to me— the cost of change.
Charge it to me. Imbecile!
Strange how you’ve sealed
the idea in your mind
that they’ll pick it up.
Who?
Someone concerned—
Why not you?
