God’s Hourglass by Julia A. Masi PhD

Poem

It’s through mercy
and forgiveness
that we survive
despite the vagrant evil
wafting through the air
as the sands of time
continue to flow
through God’s hourglass
as a constant reminder
that prayers of
sincere contrition
can over turn the darkness
as those final grains of sand
filter through the narrow tunnel
toward the day of destruction
It’s the hand of God
that flips the hourglass
for another chance
to purify our hearts
through mercy
and forgiveness.
