GOLDEN JUBILEE by Mbongeni Khumalo

Poem

50/ 50
In a balance of probabilities
Half-full half-empty
Nobility a life’s chance of vulnerability

Walking milestones
Illuminated in countless candles
Value judgement
A kilometre in shoo-shoos
So who’s who
When the stormy winds of life start
To blow?
It never kills to hope
Distant horizons turned aglow
Eyes half-ope

I’m not aging but mellowing
Each pen stroke
A battle of a lifetime’s experience
From pentagenarian to centenarian

Growing from strength to strength
Toast of mirth & a sign of health

Under the circumstances
I’m doing fine thank you
