From the garden of the forsaken let your faith
Be a safe haven for the tallest of winged-clipped
Angels who fly grounded, in prayer they remain
Prepared for it all
Sparring with God’s promise we have kissed a fountain
Of serendipity, offloading our baggage
For when the road calls
Seven days in, one prayer is clear to me
The meek shall inherit the earth
Feeding a beast with fear I freeze
My notepad tearing the freedom to purge
My sins
I’ve sold my soul to the tender fold
Of your glittering gold every time I see you
My heart explodes into minute boulders
Pleading to rock the boat until I free you
Here I stand, a shadow of my former self
Shedding the darkened light defining
The yin and yang of what makes me a man
Here I stand, whipped, chained and stranded
At your command I become something else
Here I stand, chipped, slain and dealt
A losing hand but I play my cards right
Equipped to overcome odds I stand
At heights you can’t fathom I am
Within Gods might
Here I stand, marked by a tattoo sleeve
Of waterfalls rinsing my skin of grief
Regrets rewritten as new beginnings relieved
From the weight carried by old beliefs
That I’m not good enough, I am worthy
So dance for me, twist your ankle and fall
Into good graces, be a flowers that blossoms
In pavements, weigh the pros and cons
Of chasing a wasted dream, and dream again
Make the basic of matters simply amazing

Born June 1st, 1995, Malibongwe Sicelo Cedric Dladla, affectionately known as K.I.N.G. Cedric, is a Poet, Content, and Column Writer from Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, who specializes in Music and Humanities subjects. Malibongwe’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology and Sociology) Degree from The University of KwaZulu-Natal, a Fundamentals of Digital Marketing Certificate with Google Skills for Africa, An Artist Management Qualification from KUMISA and a Digital Marketing Qualification from Digify Africa
