Comes hegemony with unified power,
Having a say over all things social,
Reaching upwards to some high tower,
Touching down, even to the local.
Somewhat democratic, for all have a say,
And, dreams of a gleaming world view.
A bit mysterious, high spirits so fey,
Restless ideas do seek to renew.
Always the old dream of empire,
Ruling the land for all to see,
With royal dress robes as attire,
Clothing the hopes for all “eternity.”
Little chance of success in time of flux,
Polished intentions oft’ go astray,
Followed by the utterance “shucks.”
Only in old movies is there a replay.
