Ink for an Easel by Aaishah Mayet

Aaishah Mayet | Jul 8th, 2019 | poetry | No Comments

A fountain pen sashays in convivial scrawl
Smudges as Ideals of origami birds soar
On mists of celestial hope
Defying a terrestrial reality
The scratch of the nib bends in bestial acknowledgement
Of a bus, proverbial
Of sentiments, controversial
Exclamation mark!
And the lack of a full stop
As words serenade ink-stained fingers
And dashes and commas build crucial staircases
-Of soulful scents, purgatorial hues, surreal splatters,
Of the jovial found in the trivial
– Out of an abyss
Escaped by the counsel
Of the ink for an easel
Recording a poetic resilience
