i can feel myself dying…
the sun and moon
have begun to look more beautiful
and i have begun to love my friends more.
i’m going out again,
i have a job
and i moved out.
the shaking has moved from my hands
to the rest of my body,
my lungs feel smaller and smaller
every day
and tears always find their way
down my cheeks.
my voice has begun to project,
i am heard.
i can feel myself dying
and
all i can think about is living.
Marang Nwako is a South African poet who writes to make sense of the emotions that often go unspoken. Their poetry explores love, grief, healing, identity, and the spaces between who we are and who we hope to become. They believe poetry is both a conversation and a home, one that invites readers to find pieces of themselves within each poem.
