Just for All by Stephen Kingsnorth

Poem

Evolved creation is not bad,
but human nature turns it so;
this spinning sphere of influence
must bear that burden, beings, so
at Easter, festivals of faiths,
we celebrate how life could be.

‘Bad world, good Friday’ blames wrong lot,
for planet but amoral plot;
inhuman setting when at worst.
Then Freitag, for day world is freed,
inhabitants, a choice in deed,
that selfless love or greed as creed.

A crown of thorns, pow’r on its head,
blood diamonds now rubied red –
the wounded Messiah, link missed –
as not for Zion; just for all.
Disciples, first to last misread,
Chief Priests, today’s Commanders too.
