Poem

Love still lives here
This little heart of mine,
I’m going to let it shine through dark rooms where the stench of heartbreak looms
past ruins are home,
places where fear dwells and love is left out cold with only broken promises to hold
In palms torn psalms sworn as the happy place where love’s born

Without warning came a lover and warmed pools of contentment
my soul swam, time lapsed
In time found itself damned
But still beating, still bleeding

Love never alive has no grounds to be called dead
We just live in knowing it was never there,
in our glare was smoke
mirrors on the wall who only wanted hearts prettiest of them all to fall
the winter of their cold souls could no longer remember light
my love’s destiny was to be amber
To remind them that things do sometimes get bright
