Magic by Joseph S. Pete

Joseph S. Pete | Oct 17th, 2019 | poetry | No Comments

Poem

Magic believes in you, except when it doesn’t.
You work yourself to the point of exhaustion,
you grind until the wee hours, with little immediate reward.

You buy homeless panhandlers coffee and donuts.
You stop to help motorists trying to push their stalled vehicles
off the side of the road, really putting your quads into it.

You try to help out colleagues, entertain with jokes.
You attempt to win everyone over, lend everybody a favor.
You hope to conjure magic in the world, but the supernatural never fortunes you.
