the distance
between father and son
each trying to hack it

the dark waters dripping
on the webbed silence
brow broadly rippling
on the edge of storms

they munch peanuts, quaff beer
the sports commentary so easy
in the ear

in the distance
quietly; in the drained waters
lies
being man and being black
