Poem

Still, they trudge on
Desperation and hope pushing them forward
Dry throats and tired feet
Aches from stomachs churning with bile

Still, they trudge on
Voices trying to reach somebody
Anybody
Who would listen
Responses vile with taunting
“Entitled and lazy” they cry

And still, they trudge on
