*act one*

I’ve walked
haunted streets
for months
everything carries
the stain…
holographic monograms
threads and filaments
handcuff my heart
this old jail
you

*act two*

down every road
another ghost
this whole town
belongs
I trespass
with sadness
weighed down
by thoughts
cyanide memories
I see
you
everywhere
echoed
future past
present

*act three*

night
dark with symbols
a waning moon
black magic
voodoo child
the carnival of cowardice
another shibboleth
reflected on stage
I know how
Hamlet feels:

dodgy
mother
fuckers

*act four *

and then
long past midnight
the witching hour
somehow
he’s here
beside
uncertain saint
bright blue eyes
golden hair
you
eighteen years
ago

*act five *

we wander
lost and laughing
uphill
to sunrise
mundane magic
I have missed
we bridge
the past
with a crutch
this former you
the current
me

*act six *

home
at the end
a street
bears the name
my future
city
ironic, how
his kisses
erase the bruising
bloody marks
left behind
a parting gift
your indelible
tattoo

*act seven *

somehow
between pillows
drifting in
and out
of sleep
I forget you
to his eyes
that grant
distance…

merci i
sigh less
this apogee
le charme
est casse

merci
