Sometimes our emotions
behave like nomads,
camping in unknown
places for days,
trying to understand
life.
They fall with a
heavy slump, reluctant
to rise like a hippo,
half-submerged,
reclining in mud
with a slow, squelch.
Zahra is a poet from Pakistan whose work appears at the meeting place of nature, imagination, and reflection. She writes to translate the inner pulse of thought into vivid, tactile images. Her poems seek to cross borders, carrying breath, tide, and silence into the shared language of readers everywhere.
