After winter’s song,
Spring should sing
deafen my ears to its sister.
I hope it will.
I hope because I am unsure
that its notes will sound in my heart
and numb the numbness afflicting it.
At least put a smile on this face, a small one,
an honest one.
Thaw the frost, prick the heart to jolt.
If spring cannot do it, then the summer sun should.
It must.
