You take the stage and change the scene,
You come out of your chamber
and weary bodies are called to slumber,
You shade the sky and dim its light,
You summon the moon and the stars.
You open a door and we walk through,
You chauffeur us into a different phase,
As you gradually change your face,
The birds take flight home,
Creatures come out of their hiding.
Treasures are hid in your room,
Your chariot swing low,
Darkness is in your fold,
This can only be traversed by the bold,
The night watchers soar on your wings.
Oh, night, you take the sleep of the craftsmen,
Wheeling ideas into their minds,
You turn the pages of the unseen,
On its wall, the sages lean,
On its roof, they sit.
