Old Man’s Chest by Wisdom Ncube

Poem

The old man’s chest, a treasure trove,
A lifetime of memories, a life well-loved.
A chest full of stories, of laughter and tears,
Of love and loss, of hopes and fears.

The old man’s chest, a window to the past,
A glimpse of a life that went by too fast.
A chest full of secrets, of dreams and desires,
Of lessons learned, of passions on fire.

The old man’s chest, a legacy to behold,
A gift to the young, a story to be told.
A chest full of wisdom, of courage and grace,
Of a life well-lived, of a soul in its place.

So open the chest, and take a peek inside,
And see the world through the old man’s eyes.
For in his chest, you’ll find a treasure trove,
A lifetime of memories, a life well-loved.

You’ll find a photo of his first love,
A letter from his son, sent from above.
You’ll find a medal from his days at war,
A ticket stub from a trip to Singapore.

You’ll find a lock of hair from his wife,
A seashell from a beach, a memory for life.
You’ll find a book of poems, written by hand,
A painting of a sunset, drawn on the sand.

You’ll find a map of the world, marked with his travels,
A journal of dreams, of hopes and marvels.
You’ll find a watch that he wore every day,
A pen that he used, to write his way.

You’ll find a ring that he gave to his wife,
A photo of his family, a treasure for life.
You’ll find a key to a door, long since gone,
A memory of a life, that still lives on.

So open the chest, and take a look inside,
And see the world through the old man’s eyes.
For in his chest, you’ll find a treasure trove,
A lifetime of memories, a life well-loved.
