Pages into Ashes by Lara Reis

Poem

‘Are you coming to the big book burning?’; you asked,
and I did listen with care. Each chapter was unfinished,
and I didn’t know how to tell that I wanted so much more.

You were right when you advised me to give up,
to free my blank pages into ashes and no fuck.
That I had no space to keep libraries of what was gone
and wishful thinking of things that will never come.

I tried to develop a plan to avoid getting lost
Learn from each mistake to be selfish and a cunt.
To believe I still deserved whatever I want.

But I’m too defective and tired with too many adjectives,
too many objectives but no final word perspectives.

Where do you keep and learn all those words,
If I burn the ones, I have ever known?

Poet Bio

Lara Reis goes on an adventure. Later, after a deep nap and a strong coffee, repeat. She will go on an adventure. Later. Please understand that all good stories always have a dragon. Her name is Lara. She was born in 1984 and since childhood, this nomad has written about the worlds built up in her head. However, when she is too lazy to express herself in with words, she uses her simple drawing skill. To each of you who has read and follow her stories: Lara thanks you.
