Pending war by Pelonomi Itumeleng

Pelonomi Itumeleng | Sep 17th, 2019 | poetry | No Comments

Breathing is
A scream in a society that kills.
Breathing is defiance against what seeks to end us before our time.

Breathing is winning battles
That leads to our death in the war.
Maybe, we are dead… Just delayed

The drum they beat in the war
Cannot be louder than the screams of women and children,
Just breathing.

Poet Bio
