Poem

Release us Lord from the manacles of ignorance.
Part our enslaved minds from the prejudice and hatred that hold our humanity captive.
Make sober our minds to the hurt we inflict.
Open our eyes so we may see the bloody ink with which we are writing our history.
Let our ears hear how we have ravaged the lives of our own.
Our tongues should speak the truth that has escaped our hearts.
The skin that we wear is identical and the blood we spill is yours and mine.
What will we say when our posterity enquires about our dead humanity?
