Nelson Mandela Bay hosts its first ever poetry festival – Praat, a multi-lingual poetry festival, is bringing the best in the local poetry scene as well as well known national poets to Port Elizabeth.
The two-day programme includes:
Unathi “darkblood” Slasha, Sisonke Papu, Donga, Madoda Ndlakuse, Zomzi Ntshona, Itai Hakim, Babalwa “Lady B” Kona, Crypted Sage, Nabi Thlalefang; with lectures and readings hosted by Mzi Mahola and Mxolisi Nyezwa.
There will also be an in depth conversation and lecture by NMMU, lecturer; Nancy Morkel on the various uses of poetry and its relevance.
Poetry lovers will be taken on a journey of poetry by legendary writer and renowned poet, Lesego Rampolokeng and Lebo Mashile who will be performing for the first time on the Nelson Mandel Bay Opera stage.
The audience will also be serenaded into the night by our proudly local musicians: Siseko Pame and Umle.
The Festival will be held at the Opera house,the Barn and Main Theatre.
