The sky took me to Germany,
where the stars unfolded a map
of all the destinations I had yet to go.
I landed back home,
reminisced about constellations,
rebuilding my rocket from memory.
I tried to outdo who I was yesterday,
but how could I surpass the version of me
who had already toured the globe?
Now all I see is the eclipse—
clouds veiling my telescope.
Oh, the lengths I would go
for my inner astronaut to explore.
The rockets I’ve built since then
all burnt to the floor.
Worse than losing the world
is the fear of never seeing it once more…
