This December Poetry & Jazz at The Orbit moves from its traditional Tuesday slot to Wednesday(6 December) as it hosts its last Out There Sessions.
This time around the co-host will be Natalia Molebatsi as regular host, Myesha Jenkins, has taken ill. To wrap things up in style, we will be joined by Modise Sekgothe, Phillippa Yaa de Villiers, and there will be a third set with three guest poets; Napo Masheane, Quaz Roodt, and Afurakan. Johan Mthethwa (piano) and Lex Futshane (bass) will bring the music, and African Flavour Books will be selling great literature.
For the past several months, Myesha has experienced severe abdominal pain, weight loss, and a sense of depleting energy. She was recently diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the pancreas, and is going to have an operation to remove the tumour, as soon as possible.
All ticket proceeds and a portion of literature proceeds will go towards financing the operation Myesha will undergo and her recovery thereafter.
