Short Sight by Stephen Kingsnorth

Poem

Some credal claim creation comes
through hand of God or The Big Bang,
but see bipolar doff their caps,
and arid lands of sun-dried crops.
But, stewards of the world we make
decisions for our future flight
as dying satellite of fools
or orbit seen, black hole to hope.
Those polar opposites, melt-down,
will wise tides rise before we drown?
Enjoy today or seize the day,
we reap as sown – tomorrow’s crop?
Our greed laps where green beautiful
damage sustained through fossil fuel;
as white bears float where brown have been
why tourists fly to greet the scene?
