Silence After Disrespect by Caterina Pollio

Poem

Staying quiet
is the best response
after disrespect
after an insult,
because
silence is power.

People bark.
They try to provoke
They throw their words
like stones.
You don’t have to pick up
a single one.

Silence is the shield
In the battlefield of verbal wars.
It seems you want to yield
But it’s not a sign of surrender.
In fact, you take your power back.

If you have no reaction
you are showing
they have no control
over your emotion.

Your real power is not defined
by how loud you can be
but how unaffected
you can remain.

A dog barking in front of a lion
shows weakness.
The lion won’t react.
The dog won’t affect him.
The lion will just neglect it.
Because the lion knows
exactly who it is.
The king of the forest
doesn’t need to prove
its strength to something
that isn’t even on its level.

Disrespect
is an attention-seeking behavior.
It’s a desperate attempt
to be significant.
In fact, it proves how irrelevant
they are.
It shows they are not important.

Silence is a wall
protecting your dignity
preventing yourself
from a waste of energy
for explaining your reasons
to people who won’t accept
to people who won’t understand.

Let your actions speak.
Let your success reach its peak.
Let your unshakable presence
do the talking.
Because while the weak are busy
trying to tear others down,
the strong are too focused
on their own elevation
to even acknowledge them.

You’re not in this world
to fight meaningless battles.
You’re here to build your empire.
However, time flies.
Don’t let it expire.
