“Silence is a Woman” by Sitawa Namwalie

Poetry Potion | April 26th, 2014 | poetry seen | No Comments

Directed by Alice Karunditu

The show “Silence is a Woman” is an entertaining performance of poetry and stories. It is an exploration of the countless spaces and faces of silence in my life. You’ve heard it said many times, ‘Silence is a virtue; silence is golden’. But is that really true? “Silence is a Woman” explores the many ways in which our silence imprisons us, makes us complicit in our own alienation. The show is about the silences in our homes, our work, our politics and our relationships. It will make you laugh, cry and wonder out loud about the lives of Kenyans.
