A chorus line, male breaking dawn,
as notified with rise to fall.
It staves off sleep, this wakeup call;
as blackbird scales up, summons dance
into the day, though night before.
As grace and beauty warble through
new sounds now figured through his throat;
both beak and wing suit evening dress
from golden voice to blackened cape,
the movement of birds, cadence lift.
